Tony Buzbee’s Multi-Point Plan to Combat Crime
If we aren’t safe from crime, we aren’t free to live our lives. As the father of two daughters, I want to know my girls can be safe to visit the Galleria, jog in parks, or go out at night without fear of being assaulted, carjacked, or worse. I want all of our children to grow up without the threat of violence in our neighborhoods.
Relentlessly target high crime areas. This has worked in other cities, and it can work for Houston.
Stop the revolving door, lock up violent criminals, and keep them locked up.
Demand a police presence in every District G neighborhood to make our communities safer.
Take repeat criminals off the streets and put them behind bars because they are often the ones who escalate in violence and number of crimes committed.
Who Is Tony Buzbee?
From Humble Roots
Tony Buzbee is the son of a butcher and high school cafeteria worker. To attend college, he earned an ROTC scholarship at Texas A&M University, where he served as a Battalion Commander in the Corps of Cadets. Upon graduation, Tony was named a Distinguished Naval Graduate and recognized as the Outstanding NROTC Senior in the Corps of Cadets and the Outstanding Commander in the Corps of Cadets. Today, Texas A&M University proudly houses the Buzbee Leadership Learning Center in recognition of his enduring impact and legacy.
Commitment to Country
With a profound desire to serve our nation, Tony chose to join the United States Marine Corps. In his initial Marine Corps training, he was recognized as an Honor Graduate, receiving the top leadership score out of more than 200 other Marine Lieutenants.
Distinguished Combat Veteran
Tony commanded various Marine SOC infantry units as a Marine Corps infantry officer serving in the Persian Gulf and Somalian conflicts. After rigorous screening, he became a Recon officer, commanding Recon Company, First Marine Regiment. Tony received various awards, including top leadership awards from the Navy Dive School and the Amphibious Reconnaissance Course. Tony earned the rank of Captain and was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal for his Marine Corps service.
Philanthropist at Heart:
Beyond his professional achievements, Tony Buzbee, in collaboration with his wife, works tirelessly to help support organizations and services to care for those most in need in our greater Houston community. In addition to helping raise a record $2.8 million for Houston Children’s Charity, the Buzbees have donated millions of dollars to local, faith-based organizations that help feed and find services for the homeless. They also have given millions to help educate and support current and future college students while supporting causes close to their hearts, like Ronald McDonald House, SPCA of Houston, Citizens for Animal Protection, and Habitat for Horses.
It’s time for real leadership. Like he’s done for so many others, Tony is ready to advocate fiercely for District G and a stronger Houston.

As Thanksgiving approaches, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey we've embarked on together. District G is the cornerstone of Houston, and I’m tired of seeing us treated like a cash machine while our properties and priorities are ignored. We were recently out block walking, and the poor treatment we saw District G and its residents receive from our city is a disgrace.
